Grease Separator Installation and Drainage Alterations in Derbyshire

Project Overview

RPD NW was appointed to carry out essential drainage upgrades at a commercial property in Derbyshire, ensuring the site remained compliant with current building regulations and operated safely and efficiently.

Grease Separator Installation

As part of the works, our team installed a new grease separator designed to prevent fats, oils and grease (FOG) from entering the drainage system. These units are crucial for commercial kitchens, food service premises and industrial sites, helping to:

• Reduce blockages in internal and external pipework
• Protect the wider drainage network
• Improve hygiene and prevent foul odours
• Maintain compliance with environmental and water authority standards

Our engineers excavated, installed the separator, connected all required pipework, and ensured correct positioning for smooth, effective operation.

Drainage System Alterations

To support the new installation, we made targeted alterations to the existing drainage system. This included redirecting pipework to suit the new layout, improving flow direction and ensuring the system met all relevant regulations.

Where needed, additional pipe sections and fittings were installed to optimise performance and maintain long-term reliability.

New Soakaway Installation

An additional soakaway was constructed as part of the upgrade to manage excess surface water and improve on-site drainage capacity. The soakaway was built to industry standards with:

• Correct depth and sizing
• Suitable aggregate and filtration layers
• Long-term efficiency in mind, reducing the risk of localised flooding

Built to Full Building Regulations

All work was completed in full alignment with building regulations, ensuring the installation met legal requirements for wastewater management, grease separation and surface water disposal.
